The SOLKAV concept in Kolobrzeg, Poland
This innovative approach involves using waste heat from the ice rink to heat the indoor pools. After the ice season, the sports field is utilized for solar heating of the pool. In winter, the ice rink operates energy-neutrally, as the waste heat significantly contributes to the district's energy needs, including the swimming pool and a large portion of the hot water supply. In summer, approximately 75% of the warm water pool and heating demand is covered by solar energy, supplemented by a heat pump, ensuring economical operation.
The system is very well received, attracting around 35,000 visitors to the ice rink each year. In summer, sports options such as tennis, badminton, and basketball are available.
