Experience the Thrill of Solar Ice & Snow Systems

Outdoor Pool / Indoor Pool / Ice Rink, Kapfenberg 2022

The outdoor pool, indoor pool, and ice rink in Kapfenberg benefit from an innovative solar system installed over a 1,400 m² area. This system features specialized piping that responds to seasonal changes, easily handling winter contractions and summer expansions. Thanks to 40 years of experience in building large-scale solar systems and developing extensive solar and ice fields, a suitable design was achieved.

In summer, the solar system is used to heat the outdoor pool. In spring and fall, it serves to heat the indoor pool. In winter, the waste heat from the ice rink is used to de-ice the roof of the ice rink, where the solar system is located. This versatile use of the solar system ensures maximum energy efficiency and minimizes operating costs.

Project Oldenzaal, Netherlands, 2005

In 2005 we started an incredible journey towards sustainability and innovation! The project includes an extensive 1500 m² solar system combined with a state-of-the-art heat pump combination. The heating is powered by our efficient solar panels, with heat pump support in the colder months. The pool water is always heated to the perfect temperature, sustainably. Heating for the household: The entire home stays warm and cozy, thanks to renewable energy.

The SOLKAV concept in Kolobrzeg, Poland

This innovative approach involves using waste heat from the ice rink to heat the indoor pools. After the ice season, the sports field is utilized for solar heating of the pool. In winter, the ice rink operates energy-neutrally, as the waste heat significantly contributes to the district's energy needs, including the swimming pool and a large portion of the hot water supply. In summer, approximately 75% of the warm water pool and heating demand is covered by solar energy, supplemented by a heat pump, ensuring economical operation.

The system is very well received, attracting around 35,000 visitors to the ice rink each year. In summer, sports options such as tennis, badminton, and basketball are available.
