SOLKAV EPDM Ice rink mat system

Solkav Ice Mats are made from new and not recycled EPDM/rubber. Our oldest rubber tracks date back to 1980. Made from combed material to prevent pressure leakage.

Permanently pressure-resistant up to 2 bar. (briefly up to 3 bar); The individual lanes are 10 cm wide. Supply and return alternate between the individual pipes; so the ice temperature remains constant over the entire field. Our Ice mats just lose 1,5° C between inside and outside due to special, cold transferring mix of EPDM. This is important for minor consumption of electricity. The collectors for our mat system are always delivered as a three-pipe system (Tichelmann), which means that the ice temperature and quality are perfectly constant over the entire ice field.

Installation can be at site in pipe channel for fixed installations; or delivered in Ice boxes for mobile use.

Delivery in modules

The ice mats are supplied in “ice boxes”, ready for installation and easy to store.

The modules can be easily assembled. The hot-dip galvanized steel boxes are supplied in the standard length of 2.50 metres. Other box lengths on request, the boxes have a sheet metal cover and can therefore be walked on.

White mats

The ice mats are also available in white. This is very helpful when making ice as it maximizes the sun's reflection, so ice can be built up during the day and saves a lot of time. Further white mats eliminate the need for Ice colouring. Solkav white mats are of same strength as black mats. Our first installations we made in 2007; and the mats are still in operation.

White Solkav mats (7mm) can be used for ice rinks up to 40 linear meters.

This is possible thanks to the special EPDM mixture. The advantages are lower weight and material costs, lower power consumption compared to 9mm ice mats. White Solkav mats (9mm) can be used for ice rinks up to 65 linear meters. Thus, the collector's boxes are on the short side, even for Olympic sizes, in white as well as in black. After the season, the ice mats are dismantled, rolled up and stored away from the weather and sun

Flexible design

The design of the ice mats makes it easy to offer individual solutions.

Smart collector piping

The manifolds can also be installed vertically, instead of horizontally as with the standard boxes. Curved design to follow the course of the rails.

Middle trench location of the collector

With a central collector, the sheets are rolled out from both sides (this system is also available as a mobile variant). The installed collectors thus disappear under the ice cover.

The boxes are extremely flat, they are then connected using Victaulic clamps, so a height of 20cm can be achieved.

Flexible adjustment of the ice mats

The ice mats can be flexibly adapted to local conditions; e.g. you can bypass pillars or other things inside the rink. Ice mats are flexible and adaptable.

9mm Connect ice mats can be extended up to 100m in this way.

The Ice mats have than special enlargement connectors and have inner diameter of 10 mm. The special clips system makes it easy to enlarge mats up to 100 rm in one line and dismantle them again. The perfect solution for Ice walks, mobile Ice tracks, etc.
